Yelena Margolin, Ph.D.

Dr. Yelena Margolin concentrates her practice on patent prosecution in the fields of chemistry and biotechnology. She also assists on due diligence projects, in preparation of freedom to operate opinions and in drafting patent licensing agreements.

Prior to joining McCarter & English, Dr. Margolin worked as a molecular biologist at Boston area biotechnology companies. She received her Ph.D. in Toxicology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology studying chemical mechanisms of sequence-specific DNA oxidation. She conducted postdoctoral research in the area of analytical chemistry and proteomics at the Harvard School of Public Health. Dr. Margolin has several publications in leading peer-reviewed journals, including a first-author publication in Nature Chemical Biology, and has presented her work at numerous scientific meetings. Dr. Margolin is fluent in Russian.
