Dr. Zhang is a partner in the Intellectual Property and Information Technology group. She has over ten years of experience in patent prosecution and management. Dr. Zhang concentrates on the area of pharmaceuticals and biotechnology. Prior to joining the firm, she was an in-house patent counsel at a medium-sized biotechnology company in the Boston area, where she was responsible for designing patent strategy and overseeing patent prosecution. Dr. Zhang also worked at two law firms in the Boston area as a Patent Agent, managing patent portfolios for clients from both small and large companies as well as academic institutions. Dr. Zhang has extensive experience in U.S. and foreign patent preparation and prosecution, patent validity and freedom-to-operate opinions as well as due diligence and patent landscape analysis.
Dr. Zhang received her PhD in Chemistry at the Johns Hopkins University. She then went on to post-doctoral research at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology where she studied the mechanism of cisplatin and other platinum-based anti-cancer drugs, and received the Anna Fuller Fund Postdoctoral Fellowship in Molecular Oncology. After post-doctoral research, Dr. Zhang conducted independent research in the area of bioinorganic chemistry as an Assistant Professor of Chemistry at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Dr. Zhang has published a number of scientific articles in journals such as the Journal of the American Chemical Society.
Dr. Zhang graduated from Suffolk University Law School cum laude. She was awarded Best Brief Award in the First Year Legal Practice Skills Program.
